In the 1911 Census Mary Ann was living in Warrington, a widow, with her Sister-in-law Harriet Chrimes, a 63 year old spinster. Mary Ann's Grant of Probate record reads: "CHRIMES Mary Ann of the Roebuck Hotel Bridge Street, Warrington widow died 25 October 1914 Probate Liverpool 30 December to Thomas Yarwood schoolmaster and Arthur Ashton builder. Effects £4160 0s 11d". From The Widnes Examiner of 16 January 1915: "Local Lady's Estate. The will of the late Mrs. Mary Ann Chrimes - widow of a former Mayor of Warrington, and who, up till her death recently, kept the Roebuck Hotel, Bridge-street - has been proven at £4,160 gross." Mary Ann was NOT the widow of the mayor - she was the widow of a son of the mayor. See www.billiongraves.com for an image of the gravestone. |
