From 1906 to 1908 George Edward was a waiter, later steward, on the ship Ivernia which sailed out of Liverpool. I cannot find George Edward on the 1911 UK Census. From The Liverpool Echo of 3 September 1915: "CHRIMES - August 9, killed in action, at the Dardanelles, Sergeant George Edward Chrimes (6th Service Battalion Border Regiment), the dearly-beloved son of Captain Hy. and Mrs. Chrimes, of Egremont." Service Number: 12544 George Edward's Commonwealth War Graves record reads: "CHRIMES, Serjt. George Edward, 12544. 6th. Bn. Border Regt. Killed in action 9th. Aug., 1915. Age 37. Son of Ellen Chrimes, late of 20, Hale Rd., Liscard, Cheshire, and the late Henry Chrimes. Native of Liverpool. XI. A. I." |
