I cannot find Thomas on the 1851 UK Census. Thomas and his wife Eliza emigrated to New Brunswick, Canada. They had married in 1854 in Liverpool, so they must have emigrated between 1854 and 1856. Thomas was initiated into the Union Lodge of Freemasons at Portland, St. John, Canada on 21 March 1861. In 1872 they moved from Canada to Jackson, Michigan, USA. Thomas's US death record gives his mother's maiden name as JOHNSON, a useful confirmation of parentage. |
