Margaret is connected to her parents by the Births Index (GRO) record which gives mother's maiden surname as MALLETT. In the 1871 England Census Margaret was "niece" to a "wife" who was probably born MALLET. In the 1881 England Census Margaret was at a boarding school. At her marriage in 1894 Margaret was described as "Law Student", father Joseph CHRIMES (deceased) Brewer [ref. Lancashire OPC]. In the 1921 England Census Margaret, widow, was 'Head' of the household, with two children, one visitor and three servants. Margaret's Grant of Probate reads: "SPENCER Margaret of 18 Montague-road Richmond Surrey widow died 24 May 1929 Probate London 1 August to George Frederick Walker banker and Alice Margaret Stammers (wife of Herbert Victor Stammers). Effects £2651 8s. 1d." |
