From Find-a-Grave: "Devon Crymes took his grand transition into Heaven on 5/27/2020 at home surrounded by his family and love ones. Devon was born to LaShunda Crymes (Deonta Taper) and Jackie Hoskins (April Hoskins) on 11/27/2006 in Memphis, TN at St. Francis Hospital. He attended Cordova Middle School. Devon accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 6, where he was a member at Jesus the Rock Ministries. Devon was full of life, outgoing, outspoken, and incredibly determined. Nothing stopped him from doing what he wanted to do. Devon's life may not have been as long as we wanted it to be, but there is still so much to be said about him. He made his entrance into the world like it belonged to him, eyes wide open and alert, he was born during the day, and later that night while preparing for bed his grandmother (Pamela Crymes) turned the lights off in the hospital room and he immediately started to cry, she got up and turned them back on to see if everything was ok and he stopped crying, so again she turned the lights off and yep, he screamed again! So, she got back up and turned them on, and he stopped crying. We started laughing because we realized that he knew the difference between light and darkness. At that point I knew that he was something special. Devon always knew what he wanted and never took no for an answer, yes, he was spoiled but very respectful, smart, and ahead of his time. Devon never met a stranger and he absolutely love to eat! He loved his brothers and thought that they could practically rule the world! He had his own way of doing things, along with putting families together and making sure that everyone got along, and he loved to travel! Devon developed a special bond with his stepfather (Deonta Taper), he was practically the only person that could get him to take his meds and listen! LOL Devon Crymes made a major impact on the lives of many, such as Michelle Obama, He uplifted people through his journey and showed us how to live life. He had a few nicknames such as Lil Capo, Lil Cocky, and The King of St. Jude! Everyone at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital loved him and had him spoiled rotten, according to them he never did any wrong! When he was first diagnosed, he asked his mom how did he suppose to go through with having cancer? She told him that in life we can choose how we go through certain things, with a smile or with a frown. He sat quietly for a minute, then he said well mama I don't have time to be around here frowned up, so I guess I will go through with a smile! And that he did. He was preceded in death by his greatgrand fathers Less L. Crymes, and Charles Williams, his grandfather, Danny R. Ellison, and aunt Ebony Crymes. He leaves to cherish his mother LaShunda Crymes (Deonta Taper) and father Jackie Hoskins (April Hoskins). Six brothers; Denzel Crymes, TyShun Crymes, DeVarius Simmons, DeAngelo Nelson, Jadn Hoskins, Deonta Taper Jr. Four sisters; Jaaliyah Hoskins, Makyia Hoskins, Kaydence Taper, Aubrey Taper. His neice and nephew whom he loved dearly, Zola Crymes and Kamari Crymes. Grandmothers; Pamela Crymes, Tammetha Taper, Alice Hoskins, his greatgrand mothers, Emma Crymes, Dorothy Steele, Dorthy Taper, and Mildred Crocket. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 5, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1:00 pm also at the funeral home." |
