From The Chester Chronicle of 9 December 1944: "DRIVER CHARGED The driving of a van without due care and attention on Friday October 13th, was alleged at Chester Magistrates' Court to-day (Friday) against George Arthur Crimes, general carrier, 2, School-street, Hoole Chester, who pleaded "Not Guilty" ... Defendant was fined £2, but in view of his good record the magistrates said there would be no endorsement of his license. They allowed £2 12s. costs to the prosecution." From The Cheshire Observer of 31 May 1968: OBITUARY Death of Mr. G.A. Crimes The death occurred, on 23rd May, of Mr. George Arthur Crimes, of 2, School Street, Hoole. He was aged 73. A well-known haulage contractor in Chester, Mr. Crimes, who retired some years ago, served in the Royal Field Artillery in the First World War. The first treasurer of the Hoole and Newton branch of the British Legion, he was also treasurer of the Poppy Day Appeal for many years. The funeral took place on Tuesday, when a service was conducted at Hamilton Street Methodist Church. The mourners were: The Widow, Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Crimes (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. P. Spencer and Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Thomas (sons-in-law and daughters), Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Crimes (brother and sister-in-law), Miss V.M. Crimes, Miss M. Spencer, Mr. P.A. Crimes, ..."
