Thomas CRIMES married Sidonia PENN in Q4 of 1844 at Stourbridge, so Thomas must have been called CRIMES in his early life. Thomas has been linked to his parents by a bible inscription submitted by Jessica CHRIMES I cannot find either Thomas or Sedona/Sidonia in the 1881 census. In the 1891 census "Sedona" was a widow, so Thomas must have died between 1871 and 1891. The only credible death record was 1888 Dudley, which gives the right birth year of 1818. This also agrees with the family bible inscription - see birth. This then leads neatly to Thomas's Grant of Administration which reads: "CHRIMES Thomas 10 October [1888] Administration of the Personal Estate of Thomas Chrimes late of 16 Tividale Road Burnt Tree in the Parish of Tipton in the County of Stafford Blacksmith who died 11 September 1888 at 16 Tividale Road was granted at Lichfield to Sodona Chrimes of 16 Tividale Road Widow the Relict. Personal Estate £80." Thomas appears on the Index to Death Duty Registers in 1888. |
