I cannot find a record of Leonard Piers's birth on ancestry, FreeBMD or FamilySearch.org. There is no record of Leonard Piers's birth on the births index, under CHRIMES, CRIMES, Leonard or Piers 1866 - 1868. From The Liverpool Mercury of 10 May 1900: "Jumping on Ferryboats - The following persons were each fined 5s. for jumping on or off the Wallasey ferryboats: - ...Leonard Chrimes, Banks-road, West Kirby..." In the 1901 census, Leonard Piers was living in Banks Road, Hoylake with his (10 years older) wife Isabella and their 6 year old daughter Dorothy. Later that same year Leonard Piers died at the age of 33. Leonard Piers's Grant of Probate record reads: "CHRIMES Leonard Piers of Hilbre Road West Kirby Cheshire builder died 2 November 1901 Probate Chester 9 December to Thomas Chrimes builder and George John Townsend secretary. Effects £1628 13s. 5d" Leonard Piers left a will dated 1901, accessible at Family History Centers, but not otherwise online. Leonard Piers appears on the Index to Death Duty Registers in 1901. A notice in The London Gazette of 7 January 1902 seeks claimants to Leonard Piers's estate. |
