The girl, J▮▮▮ M▮▮▮▮ Chrimes, of ▮▮, Hollyhock Road, Dudley, was fined £5 after pleading guilty to embezzling money. She asked for a similar offence concerning £1 to be taken into consideration. Superintendent J.W. Hullah said the girl was employed at a Dudley store as an assistant window dresser, but also on occasion helped at the counter. On August 30 she was seen to go to a counter, serve a customer and receive 25s. for the purchase but though she served other customers later and put money in the till, she did not put in the 25s. The police were informed and when she was seen the girl said 'It's quite right. The money is in my handbag'" |
